About Us

DC Beerathon started life as a guide to a Washington, D.C. beer festival, and that crawl-and-taproom spirit still shapes everything the site publishes today. We write for people planning a night out as much as people building a home bar: festival recaps, neighborhood crawl routes, and straightforward picks for the gear that makes drinking beer easier and better.

Our small team splits the work by what we’re actually doing when we research it. Route guides come from walking the blocks ourselves and timing taproom hours and distances. Gear picks come from using the stuff at crowded tastings and home pours over weeks, not from spec sheets alone, so a growler or opener earns a spot on the list only after it holds up outside a quiet test kitchen.

DC Beerathon participates in the Amazon Associates program and may earn a commission on qualifying purchases made through links on this site, which is one of the ways we fund the research behind our guides.

We cover what our readers in the D.C. beer and crawl scene are actually asking about: which taprooms are worth the wait, which routes make sense for a group, and which tools are worth buying before the next festival weekend. Suggestions for crawl routes, taprooms, or tested gear are always welcome.
